It’s summertime, and that means one thing — mosquitos! These pests can ruin any outdoor activity, from barbecuing in your backyard to playing with your kids in the park. Don’t let the mosquitos win; read on for tips on how to beat them.

The first step to controlling mosquitoes is to reduce the places they can breed in your yard. Mosquitos lay their eggs in standing water, so check around your property for any areas where water has collected. This includes puddles, birdbaths, flowerpots, and clogged gutters. If you have a pond or pool on your property, keep it clean and well-maintained.

Once you’ve identified potential mosquito breeding grounds in your yard, you can take steps to eliminate the pests: empty containers with standing water at least once a week; cover rain barrels when not actively collecting water; install screens over drainage points; and use larvicides (chemicals that kill mosquito larvae) in areas with difficult-to-eliminate standing water.

Finally, you can treat your yard with insecticides to reduce the adult mosquito population. This should only be done by a professional. Turin Pest Control will fully investigate the situation before suggesting and applying a treatment to disrupt the mosquitos’ life cycle.

You can protect your family from annoying and potentially dangerous mosquito bites this summer with just a few simple steps! Take your backyard back this year. If you have further questions, call Turin Pest Control, and we would be happy to help.
